Song of gratitude

As written on Facebook on December 2014: “This is my song of gratitude. Thank you Jeff, Alicia, and Janette for your donations. We were able to triple the amount of vegan chilis that we gave out. Thank you, Ivan for coming out with us and doing the heavy lifting 🙂 … I have many feelings and thoughts and moments to share with you. From the guy who said “Water! That’s like gold out here!” to the hurried eating that tells you that hunger is real, to the guy who said “Chili! I’ve been thinking about chili all day!” to the looks on people’s faces watching us do this. I know kindness is contagious, may the woman that looked on with a smile as Ollie gave out the spoons be inspired to give as well. Thank you Universe and thank you guys for inspiring and encouraging me. I could not be more grateful.”

I condensed the memorable moments to one sentence, but they are so much more than that. The woman who was admiring Ollie giving out the spoons. It inspired her. I hope she followed through with her inspiration. It makes me think of the quote in the Lorax: I know it may seem small and insignificant, but it’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become. That is not just a seed any more than you are just a boy.”
